Borrowing money through crowdfunding platforms was again very popular in 2017. The Dutch raised more than 220 million dollars (223) last year. In 2016, 170 million dollars was raised. For 2017, that means a growth of 31 percent. Last year, approximately 5,300 projects / companies were funded through crowdfunding.
Companies raise 192.7 million dollars
In 2017, a large amount of money was raised by companies via crowdfunding, namely 192.7 million dollars. That is an average amount per company of 102,000 million.
People can also raise money for creative projects. For example via crowdfunding platforms such as voordekunst. For music, films and theater, loans of $ 14.4 million were provided via crowdfunding in 2017, with an average loan amount of $ 15,000 per project.
And the social projects were again richly financed through loan platforms. Social projects can, for example, be playgrounds, school projects, etc. Some 13.1 million dollars were lent in total for this.
In addition to business loans and credits for creative and social projects, there is of course also a great demand for consumer loans. In 2017, a total of approximately 2.8 million dollars in personal loans was requested via crowdfunding. A personal loan is often used to finance a passenger car or home renovation.
Incidentally, it is striking that especially sustainable energy projects and sustainable companies caused enormous growth in the crowdfunding market in 2017. And it is equally striking that you, as a sustainable entrepren$, have the opportunity to raise a larger loan amount. Investors are apparently increasingly involved in society. By providing loans, they can in fact contribute to making Dutch society more sustainable. Another growing niche is real estate.
