Paul Hobbs – Consulting Winemaker
Born in the suburbs of New York, Paul did his studies at the University of Davis in California and after graduating went to work in Napa Valley for Robert Mondavi. There he would later take charge of famed winery Opus One. A few years later he worked for the Simi Winery (also in California) and, when on a trip to Chile he disovered Argentine wines, he began his work as consulting winemaker to Chilean and Argentine wineries.
Apart from working as a consultant, in 1998 he bought his own vineyards in California and from that moment on made his own wines in California and also in Mendoza, wines for which he has become justifiably famous.
Beginning in February 2010 he has worked with our winery as consulting winemaker. Ten years had passed since his first visit to Cafayate, and for Paul it was as much a surprise as a challenge to see how this region had grown, with so many new vineyards and wineries.
We are counting on his vast oenological experience and his international fame to help promote and improve our region and our wines, which is why the blends of the 2009 wines will be done by him, and the 2010 wines will be the result of his first consulting work with the winery.
