Born in Mendoza, he discovered his interest in wine early, when he did his secondary schooling in the Don Bosco Vitivinicultural School, where he got a Bachelor’s Degree with a specialty in Winemaking and Fruit-Olive growing.
He has done numerous seminars in Vitiviniculture and Winemaking, advanced courses in Tasting, and day seminars in Quality Winemaking, among others, and has been a judge in national competitions such as Vinandino in Mendoza.
Professionally, he has worked in Mendoza as a vineyard damage analyst in the Department of Logistics and Statistics of the Anti-Hail Initiative and has taught courses in the Don Bosco Vitivinicultural School.
From 1990 to 1998 he was responsible for production and quality control for Bodega Santa Telmo (today Bodega Cruz de Piedra) in Maipú, Mendoza. In May 1998 he decided to move to Cafayate with his family and that year began working as head winemaker for Bodega Michel Torino, now called Bodega el Esteco. Between 1999 and 2009 he worked with Alberto Antonini who was doing external consulting for the winery.
From October 2001 to September 2004 he was manager of wine production at Bodegas Lavaque, today called Finca El Recreo. Simultaneously in 2001 he began to consult for our winery, and was responsible for our first vintage in 2002. In 2004 he started full-time as general manager of production and winemaking, and since August 2007 he has worked exclusively with us as head winemaker.
He has done many stints abroad, mainly in Spain, where in 2005, 2006 and 2007 he worked in winemaking at Finca Allende; Bodega de Rioja; Bodegas Victoria, in Zaragoza; and Bodegas Calar, in Castilla, La Mancha.
