Familia

The story of El Porvenir de los Andes is the result of our commitment to the region and from its beginnings this has always been a family-run company.

The linking of the Romero-Marcuzzi family to the vitiviniculture industry began in 1980 when Roberto Romero, paternal grandfather of the family, acquired vineyard land in Tolombón, a few kilometers from Cafayate.

During the family´s time in Tolombón their love for, understanding of, and commitment to the successful development of Cafayate as a wine region grew ever stronger.

It was in Tolombón that the third generation of the family used to spend their summers, with Juan Esteban and Bettina playing among the vines and Lucía learning to walk for the first time in the sitting room of the old house. This was when the siblings became truly involved in the reality and the dynamic of the vitivinicultural industry in Cafayate.

Several years after the sold of the winery in Tolombón, in 2000, Juan Carlos Romero bought the vineyards and the old winery Bodega El Porvenir (founded at the end of the year 1800 by Italian immigrants) in Cafayate with the idea of returning to the industry but this time with a project focused on producing small quantities of very high quality wine.

Since that time the Romero-Marcuzzi family has continued to invest in technology, machinery and new vineyards, always seeking excellence in the wines they make.

Today Lucía manages the company, in which together with the 60 people who make up the winery´s team, their work is always guided by the family´s philosophy, which gives everyone involved an almost cult-like dedication to the goal of being nationally and internationally recognized for the quality and elegance of our wines, for our commitment to the region and the community of Cafayate, and for our respect for the environment.
