SANDAKAN: The limited edition Nike “Sumo Wrestlers” t-shirt priced at RM 10,000 was the expensive vintage and rare garment presented for sale at the Sandakan Bundle Fest Volume 3 held here recently.
According to the seller, Ruddy Alham Zulkifli, the vintage white color t-shirt is aged to perfection as it was only produced in a few issues in the early 1980s.
“The Nike ‘Sumo Wrestlers’ t-shirt was one of the vintage and rare items on my stand apart from the RM9,500 ‘Iron Maiden’ t-shirt, RM 5,000 Nike Geisha and several other items. “said the co-organizer of the Sandakan Bundle Fest.
Ruddy admitted that the Sandakan Bundle Fest which had been held for three consecutive years was one of the most anticipated events in this neighborhood as it is a âgold mineâ for vintage collectors.
âAs a seller and collector as well, this Bundle Fest was an opportunity for me not only to earn money, but also to meet other vintage sellers looking for interesting items that I wish I had.
âThis Bundle Fest was also a meeting place with other collectors. It is an opportunity to learn vintage and rare objects since its first edition in 2015 â, he added.
Another hardcore vintage seller and collector met by The Borneo Post at Sandakan Bundle Fest, Masdiacy @ Yarn Spartan, 38, explained that the value of each bundled item depends on the interest of the collectors.
âThere are collectors keen to collect sports branded items while others are looking for bands or famous people printed on T-shirts produced in limited edition.
âEven so, I always give priority to every vintage and rare collector’s item. We definitely want the items like our collection or memorabilia, but they should be in good condition for a long time, even if we wear them sometimes, âhe said.
Masdiacy said the âbundleâ industry has become a profitable business for both part-time salespeople like himself and the full-time operator.
âHaving been in the bundle industry for 20 years now, my knowledge of bundled items widens as I learn, and thus shares information about each bundled item, especially rare and vintage items with other sellers and collectors, âhe added.
Meanwhile, organizing chairman Sidzam @ Saidzam Saidan said the Sandakan Bundle Fest held January 27-29 attracted some 30,000 visitors from as far away as Peninsular Malaysia.
âThis year, the Sandakan Bundle Fest was happier because it took place over a large area compared to the two previous festivals. Besides the collaboration with Sandakan City Council (SMC) and Radio SandakanFM, this year’s Bundle Fest was filled with various activities such as the âHot Wheelsâ racing competition and a religious forum.
âThere were around 100 stalls at this party with packages with items ranging from shoes, clothes, bags, hats to belts at prices as low as RM1 to thousands of Ringgit,â he said. .
Looking at the positive response from the Sandakan people to the bundle industry, Sidzam said that another similar event will take place this month and details of the event will be announced soon.
âThe difference is that the upcoming event will be bigger. Therefore, we call it Sandakan Mega Bundle because there will be sellers from the peninsula and more well-known hardcore collectors will come as well, âhe said.
